Powertrain

Now more powerful than ever before, the 2024 Atlas comes equipped with a turbocharged engine that generates an impressive 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The Evo4 2.0-liter four-cylinder TSI® EA888 engine can be found beneath the hood of every 2024 Atlas model, adding 34 horsepower and 15 lb-ft of torque to previous powertrains.

An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to either the front wheels or to all four wheels when equipped with 4MOTION® with Active Control all-wheel drive. Volkswagen has done away with the dial, now allowing drivers to access available 4MOTION® from the center touchscreen display. In Snow Mode, the engine can now upshift earlier to stay in a lower RPM range and maintain traction. And Off-Road Mode has been optimized as well, activating Hill Descent Control to prevent slips and skids.
